Commentary -
With that, I Srivathsa, sign off on behalf of all my co-commentators. Do join us for the final ODI, until then be well!
Presentation:
White is the MoM:It has been nice and to be there in the end was nice. The wicket was really good to bat on and I tried to play as straight as possible. I'm not required to roll my arm over, which allows me to concentrate on my batting a lot more. I have been involved in a couple of losing series here, so it means a great deal to win it this time.
Ponting: It is a good result, I would have thought. We kept taking wickets, kept applying the pressure and it paid off in the end. Hauritz bowled beautifully today, he has not got a lot of opportunities this series, he made it count today. White has been terrific for us, in finishing off games and he batted with a great deal of maturity. It is good to see a couple of Aussie fans out here.
Vettori: We lost too many wickets, when you have to strike at the end, you dont have too many resources and against Australia, you just cant do that. Today things did not work, even though you want it to. Rough decisions are a part of Cricket, Bondy and I tried to apply the pressure, but it was always difficult to do it. We will play for pride in the final ODI.
New Zealand have only themselves to blame for this defeat. After being 120/1, NZ collapsed spectacularly to 238 all out. The Rain delay gave Australia a revised target of 200 in 34 overs. Bond started things off by dismissing Haddin for a golden duck. Ponting and Watson launched a counter-attack but Vettori managed to send them back quickly. White, along with Voges got Australia home in the end and Australia have retained the Chappell-Hadlee trophy. Aus win by six wickets and take an unbeatable 3-1 lead in the 5 match series. Join us in a short while for the MoM presentation........
