Commentary -
We have witnessed two close encounters on Day 2 of the IPL 3 and today will be remembered for Yusuf Pathan's 100 off just 37 balls and Gambhir's match winning knock of 72. We have a double header tomorrow, the first one being KKR vs RCB and CSK vs DC being the second. I hope you enjoyed the coverage as much as we did bringing it to you. This is Ajith signing off on behalf of Shashank and Srivathsa. Join us at 3:30 PM tomorrow for the 4th match. Until then, it's good bye and good night from all of us here...
Presentation:
Gambhir: This is my second MoM award in the IPL and I'm happy that the team won. I never thought I have to play the captain's innings, I just went out there looking to get as many runs as I can. Dinesh Karthik and Mithun Manhas played really well and happy that we are starting the season with a win. Dirk Nannes is a fantastic bowler and I hope he will always be in our side and hope we may not have to face him.
Gambhir is the Man of the Match for his splendid knock of 72 runs
Sangakkara: We did not bat well. Had a quite of an ok start but recovered quickly thanks to Bopara and Pathan. We need to appreciate the efforts put in by Irfan, Sreesanth and Chawla. We have to put this loss behind and look to play well in our forthcoming matches. We almost got there today but we were not good enough at the end.
The classic catch award goes to Farveez Maharoof
The maximum sixes award goes to Kumar Sangakkara.
Chasing a moderate target of 142, they lost Sehwag and Dilshan early but Gambhir buckled down and collected the runs at ease in the company of Karthik and Manhas to steer the Daredevils to a tense 5 wicket win in the final over. Kings XI Punjab did well to stifle the runs in the middle but were just not able to maintain the pressure consistently on the batsmen. They have gained a reputation of being slow starters in the IPL and will have to bounce back quickly and iron out the flaws in their batting if they are to compete. Join us shortly for the presentation....
19.5 Pathan to Manhas, FOUR!!, back of a length delivery outside off, Manhas makes room and smashes it between point and cover, Delhi win their first encounter by 5 wickets

Pathan to Gambhir, out Caught by Jayawardene!! Is there a twist in the tale?? Gambhir chips a low full toss straight to Jayawardene at mid off, he may have lost his concentration out there and they now need 3 runs off 4 balls. Gambhir c Jayawardene b Pathan 72(54) [4s-9 6s-1]
19.2 Pathan to Gambhir, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

Gambhir looks like he's struggling from cramps at the moment. The physio is on the field.
17.5 Sreesanth to Manhas, 2 runs, back of a length delivery on off, Manhas pulls it wide of mid on and Gauti does well to run back for the second
17.4 Sreesanth to Manhas, no run, back of a length delivery way outside off, Manhas makes room and swings hard, misses it

15.6 Chawla to Manhas, 1 run, Manhas drives it to sweeper cover and walks across for a single, a good over for the Daredevils this, 9 runs came of it
15.5 Chawla to Gambhir, 1 run, turns in big from the off stump, Gambhir closes the face of the bat and tucks it to deep square leg for one run
15.4 Chawla to Manhas, 1 run, Manhas waits for the slower delivery and drives it to long off
15.3 Chawla to Manhas, 2 runs, full on middle, Manhas closes the face of the bat and works it to deep mid wicket for a second
