Vettori: We appreciate the efforts of Ajmal and Aamer. We put up great fielding performances and that made a huge difference. Our top order fired, McCullum was fabulous.
Younis Khan: We were lucky to come this close. We needed a big innings from the top like the Kiwis, we missed it. It's always good to see your youngsters perform, it's a good sign.
McCullum, the Man of the series: The boys did well to bounce back as well as they have done in the last two games. We wanted a good start at the top and I needed to bat really well. I will look to get some runs in the T20Is too.
Mohammad Aamer, the Man of the Match: I am happy with the record for the partnership for the tenth wicket but it would have been great to win the contest. We did well but it always hurts to lose from as close a position as this.
Nothing short of a fascinating game we witnessed this evening. New Zealand had Pakistan reduced to 101-9 at one stage but then Aamer and Ajmal got together in a monumental partnership to script a massive turnaround. Aamer was the dominant partner and Ajmal from the other end kept providing him the strike by dabbing it around. Slowly but steadily the Pakistanis got their fangs deeper and deeper into the skin of the Kiwis but just at the last moment, the Kiwis got together for a last breath of fight and they were able to shrug off the brilliance of this last pair. Cricket's been a winner here more than anything else. Don't go too far away, we'll have the post match updates in a while...

Vettori: We got to do what we did in game 2. They have quality bowlers, when we have partnerships like the McCullum-Guptill one, that's what wins ODI games. The fielding has been superb and it lifts the whole side. We are playing the same side.

Both the sides have recorded comprehensive wins in this series when they have got the chance to bat first, so it will be interesting to see what happens today. The Kiwis hold the momentum after a fine win in the last game and would be aiming to deny Pakistan their first ever series win in ODIs this year....

Ground Reality and Pitch:
The Pakistan-Australia series earlier this year saw a spate of low scoring encounters because of a dusty pitch. However, that was not the case in this series as scores such as 287 and 303 were achieved by the teams batting first. With the pitch behaving as it is, another high scoring game can be expected during this deciding encounter.

Pakistan: Pakistan captain Younus Khan finds himself under pressure as his team heads into the series-deciding third and final one-day against New Zealand. Under Younus, Pakistan lost the one-day series against Australia in the UAE and against Sri Lanka while touring the Island Nation earlier this year. Pakistan, who have not won a one-day series since beating the West Indies last year, achieved a thumping 138-run win in the first match thanks to efforts of Afridi, Latif and Kamran Akmal. However, they could not produce the same in the second match and ended up letting the Kiwis level the series. They now would now have to comeback hard to clinch the 3-match series.
New Zealand: Kiwis, on the other hand, would be riding high after a clinical victory in the second match. After losing the first game, the Black-Caps came back well to win the second, thanks to a rousing century from Brendon McCullum. He was well-supported by Martin Guptill who came up with a useful half-century. These efforts were backed up Scott Styris who picked up three wickets to cause a stumble in the Pakistan middle order from which they could not recover. Vettori and Mills too picked up a couple of wickets each, reinforcing the fact that the Kiwis have a stable bowling attack. The New Zealanders would look to maintain the same form that they showcased in the previous game as they aim to seal a series victory.
Trivia:
New Zealand has never won a bilateral series against Pakistan either while touring the country or while playing against them in a neutral venue. (The current series is the first bilateral one between these countries in a neutral venue)

It can happen to any player. I am sure that he can come good anytime, maybe in this crucial, must-win game: Pak coach Intikhab Alam, backing Younus Khan to come good when it matters.
Pakistan can come back hard on us. We need to make sure that we head into this final game with more confidence and put more pressure on Pakistan : Daniel Vettori, mentioning that they would not take Pakistan lightly.
