Commentary -
Thats it from the two of us, Shashank and Srivathsa. Hope you enjoyed the coverage. Until tomorrow its good night and good bye from all of us!
Langer: It is just great to play in front of a crowd like this, in a magnificent stadium. We are a very well knit unit, a big tribute to the character of our guys. To beat the Chargers in their homeground is a big achievement.
Gilly: We fought back really well after getting a moderate total, but credit to Somerset for the way they played. Was unfortunate to lose Fidel in the manner we did, but its all a part of the game. Got a big game coming up, I thank the crowd for supporting us, and we'll keep fighting.
Alfonso is the Man of the Match: Delighted with my effort, but the job is just half done. We have a massive game on Monday and I am up for it. The plan was just to keep things simple, and it paid in the end.
Somerset have clinched a thriller off the last ball. This was just the sort of kick the tournament needed. Chasing a moderate target of 154, Trescothick and Langer got them off to a good start, till the spinners put the brakes on the scoring, Ojha in particular picking up a couple of wickets in the middle. Thomas came in at a precarious situation, maintained his composure and helped them cross the line in the end. The Chargers have now lost 8 games in as many matches on their home ground, and will have to lift themselves from this defeat in quick time if they are to make it to the next stage. Join us for the presentation in a couple of minutes....

We are all set to go as the players are out there in the middle.
Freak stat: When Harmeet Singh played for the Chargers in the IPL this year, they never lost a game. So some superstition in play again today as Harmeet is selected ahead of Shoaib Ahmed.
Teams:
Somerset (Playing XI): Justin Langer(c), Marcus Trescothick, Zander de Bruyn, Craig Kieswetter(w), Arul Suppiah, Peter Trego, James Hildreth, Ben Phillips, Alfonso Thomas, Max Waller, Charl Willoughby
Deccan Chargers (Playing XI): VVS Laxman, Adam Gilchrist(w/c), Tirumalsetti Suman, Andrew Symonds, Rohit Sharma, Scott Styris, Venugopal Rao, Rudra Pratap Singh, Fidel Edwards, Pragyan Ojha, Harmeet Singh
Gilly: We just got to knuckle down and try and build a good total. The feeling in the camp is fantastic, we are thrilled to be back here in front of the home crowd. We have grown as a group. Vaas is the unlucky overseas player to miss out. It looks a good surface after all the torrential rain last week. Great stuff from the groundstaff to get it ready after all the rain.
Langer: We are going to have a bowl, get some early wickets and then hope to chase it down. We have to get used to the lights and getting used to the wicket. We are a really close knit team. Craig Kiesweeter is a very good wicket-keeper, more in the Gilly mould. I have always loved playing here in India, great country and great people and looking forward to it. The pitch is rock hard, it looks a great T20 wicket.
Pitch: It is a belter of a wicket, batsmen can hit through the line without any fear. It is a bowler's nightmare this one. 180 is a par score on this.
Somerset have won the toss and elected to field
Hello and welcome to the live coverage of the big match of the night, between the IPL Champs- Deccan Chargers and the Somerset Sabres. The crowd has trooped into the stadium in large numbers and the atmosphere is absolutely electric. The toss will happen very shortly..
The Preview by Gokul Gopal
Ground Reality and Pitch:
With a seating capacity of 40,000, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, formerly known as the Visaka International Stadium, is located in the Uppal region of Hyderabad. Having gone through its share of controversies such as the naming of the stadium and the ground being deemed unfit to host a Australia-Mumbai match, the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, now with the state of the art facilities, is capable of staging the big matches. The pitch here has seen a mixture of low-scoring and high-scoring encounters, suggesting that it would be an equal contest between bat and ball.
Temperatures: Min-22 C Max-29 C | Conditions: Partly Cloudy
Team Updates:
Hyderabad: The home team, led by a swashbuckling batsman and an inspirational captain in Adam Gilchrist, go into the match as clear favourites. Boasting a powerful batting line-up and a relatively good bowling attack, the Deccan Chargers would look at not following the routes of fellow IPL teams but hope to start the tournament on a winning note. The Hyderabad side is a well-balanced unit With both the batting as well as the bowling department having players of international stature. The Chargers staged a dramatic turnaround to win the second edition of the IPL and would be looking to replicate the form as they aim at being the Champions of Champions.
Somerset: Captain Justin Langer and Marcus Trescothick are the two big players who the team would bank upon during the match.Although not many give the English county a chance, the Somerset team has the fire power to upstage any major side. The team had a good outing during the Twenty20 Cup before losing to Sussex in the finals. A determined side that they are, Somerset would look at going one step further during the Champions League.
Players to Watch:
Symonds and Trescothick: Both these players a making a come-back of sorts. While Trescothick is is touring the sub-continent after a long time, Andrew Symonds would be playing for the first time against an international side ever since his ouster from the Australian team during the World T20. Both players have a point to prove and would look to cash in on the CL as the ideal platform.
Trivia:
Never has a home side been victorious while playing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. While India played two ODI matches at this stadium and lost on both occasions, the home team Hyderabad lost all their matches played here during the 2008 season of the IPL.
Sound Bytes:
I am glad that we are playing against Deccan Chargers first actually. They are the champions of IPL. That would give us an indication of how close we are. We come from a very successful English summer. So we have confidence: Justin Langer captain of the Somerset team.
Teams:
Somerset (From): Marcus Trescothick, Justin Langer(c), Jos Buttler, Zander de Bruyn, Wes Durston, James Hildreth, Craig Kieswetter(w), Ben Phillips, Arul Suppiah, Omari Banks, Alfonso Thomas, Peter Trego, Mark Turner, Max Waller, Charl Willoughby
